Tampa Tribune Reports on Early Local Flu Season

In case you missed hearing about it on the local news, the flu season appears to have arrived early in the Tampa-Hillsborough-Pasco County region. In fact, at least one healthcare professional is calling the latest outbreak a “mini epidemic” – and some family medical practices are scrambling to get kids, teens and seniors inoculated with the latest flu vaccine before it’s too late. True – the vaccine only protects you against certain strains of the illness, but it’s still a good idea to have that line of defense in place. And when a family member does come down with flu-like symptoms, it’s worth the time to bring them to your primary care physician for treatment that can reduce its symptoms quicker than would otherwise be the case.
